Glacier National Park is host to amazing landscapes, and serene peaceful vistas. This crisp morning in July I climbed out of my warm sleeping bag to catch this beautiful sun and moon rise over Wild Goose Island and Saint Mary Lake.
This wild and amazing vista seems as though it is a trek to reach, but it is not even a minutes walk from the road. Many visitors to Glacier National Park get to see this awesome location, but few will take the time to watch the sun kiss the mountains in the cool crisp air.
The grand beauty of Glacier National park can be seen in so many ways. For me it was a pleasure to see some of the smaller details of the park sitting there as I would revel in the sites. One morning while photographing the larger vista here at Wild Goose Island I was just ready to pack up my gear. Having photographed the sunrise hitting the massive mountains, I wrongly assumed the scene was all but spent, and then the sun stretched out onto the island for one last set of morning warmth before the day began.
As the sun rises in Glacier National Park, the magic of dawn begins as the sun slowly stretches out onto the face of Mt Gould. As much of a Gould’en Dawn as you’ll ever see.
This peak is located near the center of Glacier National Park and most easily reached from the Many Glacier region.
Driftwood stretches out along the shoreline of Swiftcurrent Lake before the grand scene of another beautiful sunrise in Glacier National Park. Mt Gould and the Garden Wall take on the pink light of the morning sun meeting the horizon.
Not to be outdone by the Garden Wall in the distance, the main attraction of Swiftcurrent Lake is Grinnel Point, seemingly rising right up from the shoreline.
It is an incredibly beautiful sight to spend an early frosty morning along the shore line listening to the water and wildlife as the sun slowly slides down the face of the peaks in the distance to eventually meet the water below.
With the morning sun rising, the heat of the day slowly drifts down the face of Grinnel Point lighting it up like a beacon over the serene Swiftcurrent Lake in Glacier National Park.
Mt. Wilbur is a massive staple of the Many Glacier area in Glacier National Park. You can see this beautiful mountain towering over Swiftcurrent Lake, however it also feeds the smaller Iceberg lake (a fantastic hiking destination) just off to the right of this image.
